student summit, flat classroom

My team was the World Wide Web and my topic on the wiki was education. This topic really let me explore what others were getting out of doing projects like this and using technology in the class room which in turn helped me get more out of the project. The biggest thing I took from this project would be how to use technology like Edmodo and Evernote to enhance my learning in the class room.

My experience with collaboration on the wiki was a little frustrating because I was the only one contributing for a while. Then was also was frustrated when it came to relying on someone to outsource part of my video when they did not get it done in time. Those were definitely my biggest challenges. The good that came of this is learning from others mistakes and making sure if I am the one helping someone else that I give them the best effort and on the time frame they need. It also taught me how to use tools and work with others to collaborate which is something I will really be able to use in the work world especially with a communications degree that I plan on getting.

I really enjoyed learning how to use all the different programs. It really helped expand my knowledge of technology and also find programs I can use in college to help keep me organized and make my life easier.

Key note response

The technology I use that can be helpful in the classroom is my Iphone, there are note talking apps, teachers can set up trivia games where you text your answer in, you can use twitter to communicate with each other and share knowledge, and email allows you to communicate in a more professional way with each other. We are able to collaborate with others through this project and work together without ever meeting face to face using these tools. We also are creating videos and self teaching on how to make them because we know how to navigate technology well enough to figure it out on our own most times. These tools are great for my future in communications. It prepares me for the business world and working with many other people and some people I don't know and can only communicate with through the internet. It has also helped me learn how to use technology in a more efficient way and as a tool instead of for fun only. It also makes working with others easier and more instant. Knowing that you yourself expect immediate response you should also be giving an immediate reply because the people you're working with will expect it as well. Communication wise we are used to connecting with people through social media and being comfortable with it which makes it easy on this project for us to be comfortable with collaborating with one another as well.

I'm in a digital communications tools class. We learn how to better utilize the technology we have for learning. for our first project we made info graphics to talk about digital citizenship.
Over the last few weeks my class has been talking about digital citizenship. We have talked about how people misrepresent themselves and what the consequences are for those who represent themselves in a rude or offensive manner.  To me digital citizenship is acting appropriately and representing yourself in a proper true and respectful manner.

My presence online I believe fits me well. Since I am a student athlete and I’m going to continue playing a sport in college it is important for me to be careful about what I post online. I cannot say them same for all of my friends on social media most of my true friends are good about what I post but some people that are friends on my profiles may not always conduct themselves in a manner that represents them in a good light. I don’t think people that do that really think that what they do in their personal free time can affect other parts of their life. They also think they are to young for anything they say now to matter in a few years.
